Our Country Cottage

This 188 year old antique home is situated on 55 peaceful acres and located on a quiet country lane.  There's a fully equipped kitchen as well as a washer and dryer for convenience. This 4 bedroom and 1.5 bath home easily accommodates the large family, with an ample sized dining room that affords meals together. The queen size pull out couch in the living room allows 2 additional guests.  Here is a peek inside the cottage.

  The local area as well as the surrounding area comes alive in the spring with all kinds of festivals, fairs, farmers markets and everything in the outdoors we've all been longing to do all winter.  These activities will run through the summer, fall, and into the holiday seasons again.  Of course with Vermont, Glens Falls, Saratoga and Lake George just a short drive away there's a wealth of shopping, night life and heartstopping excitement. 

Shire Creek Farm is in a wonderful area that's nestled between the Adirondack Mountains of New York and the Green Mountains of Vermont which provides a plethora of activities for the outdoor enthusiasts all year long. There are many rivers, streams and lakes dotting the area.  One of those rivers is The Battenkill which runs through the neighboring towns of Salem and Greenwich NY.  

The Battenkill River is considered on of the 10 best trout streams in the country and is a treat for fishing and swimming. Many nature trails and fishing boat launches can be found locally.

A person doesn't have to be one of the sporting kind looking to hike, fish, or go boating to find something to do here. Washington County is also rich in history. The land patients here date back to before the revolutionary war and the towns here take pride in the parts they've in history such as the stops on the Underground railraod. The area is also rich in cultural events such as art exibits, and theatrical shows which includes summer stock during the summer months. The list of things to do and see is so numerous we had to designate it's own page and the link to that page can be found to the left. That page is always evolving with new and exciting things and so check back often to see the things to do.   

Shire Creek Farm is centrally located to everything exciting and yet the area is rural with ponds, unpaved roads, forests and picturesque farmlands covering the landscape. The mountain and lake views are every where you turn and just breath taking.  With all the things offered to do a guest could be kept busy every waking moment. When you've found however that you've had enough of the fun of driving in the country, and of shopping crowds, amusement park crowds and the like, you can come back and truly relax in the serenity of Shire Creek Farm.  Spend some quality time with family and friends visiting and barbequing in the yard.

Sit and sip a glass of wine or a cup of coffee as you watch the sun sink behind the mountain in front of you.  This is a place that allows the mind to unwind and for total relaxation.  And this is just what the doctor ordered for a resprite from the fast pase and hectic every day life we're looking to take a break from. 

 This country home is available year round and is ideal for the artist's  or yoga retreat, romantic weekend getaways, outdoor adventures (such as swimming, boating, hiking and fishing) family vacations or a family holiday gathering.   

Rates:

Memorial day thru labor day (peak season)   

$200 a night with a 2 night minimum

$1100./for a full a week (7 nights).

Labor day thru Memorial day (outside the peak season) 

$175/a night with a 2 night minimum

$950./a full week (7 nights).
